The Process: How to do it...

The Screen Test
In early 2008, IMF (International Music Festival) launched competitions in approximately 60 major North American markets, including Boston, Nashville, Vancouver and San Francisco, to find North America’s greatest band and introduce them to the rest of the world. While IMF concentrates mainly on rock/alternative rock bands, solo artists and musicians working within other genres are encouraged to apply and may be selected on a case-by-case basis. The City Performances
Depending on market size, 10-12 pre-selected bands will compete over one, two, or three night live engagements. Judging will be based on several criteria: crowd reactions, a panel of judges determining performance quality and stage presence, ticket sales (if you want to be a rock star, you have to know how to pack ‘em in!) and online votes through the IMF website. The Regional Face-Offs
Once IMF judges and crowds have selected approximately 60 market winners, these victors will have their profiles, music, videos and performances posted on the IMF website. Previous marks by crowds and judges will still count towards your success, and this stage also takes into account the online votes you receive by fans (and potential fans) around the world. Even if you don’t wind up the Grand Prize winner, this is still your chance to connect with an international audience of thousands!

The Final Showdown
When voting ends for approximately 60 market winners, only SIX Regional Finalists will remain. The IMF FINALS will  then reduce the field to just one band. However, runner-up and even  non-finalists will find themselves with international show offers from Anthem. In addition, all six finalists will receive a complimentary EP recording at a studio within their region of participation.

And Then There Was ONE.
Out of hundreds of talented participants, one band will launch their international music career with the help of IMF and its wealth of resources. The IMF winner will receive an all-expense paid international tour.
